In modern industrial automation equipment, pneumatic components have been widely used, such as flat face quick release couplings and stainless steel ball valves. Today, let’s take a look at the basic components of a pneumatic drive system.
The air source of the pneumatic system is pure compressed air. Therefore, our commonly used air source components mainly include: air compressors, filters, pressure reducing valves, pressure gauges, oil misters and other devices. The air compressor mainly produces compressed air (working medium). The filter mainly filters the impurities in the compressed air, mainly water, so there are generally two types of filters-manual drainage and automatic drainage. The pressure reducing valve is mainly used to adjust the pressure of the pneumatic circuit and maintain the stability of the pneumatic system. A digital pressure meter is an indicator of air pressure. There are usually two units: Pascal (Pa) and 100 Bar. Pressure gauges for Europe and the United States also have pounds per square inch (Psi). The main function of the lubricator is to atomize the lubricating oil of the pneumatic components.
The cylinder is one of the main pneumatic drive components. According to the mode of action, it can be divided into: single-acting cylinder and double-acting cylinder. A single-acting cylinder means that the movement of the piston rod of the cylinder in one direction is driven by compressed air, while the movement in the opposite direction is driven by a spring to reset. A double-acting cylinder means that the movement of the cylinder piston rod in both directions is driven by compressed air.
Cylinders can be divided into three categories according to their motion modes: linear motion cylinders, rotary cylinders and air claws. The linear motion cylinder drives the actuator to make linear reciprocating motion. The rotating cylinder drives the actuator to rotate and reciprocate. The pneumatic claw drives the actuator for opening and closing movement, which is mainly used for grasping and clamping of work-pieces or products.
According to the working conditions of the cylinder, it can be divided into: ordinary cylinder, waterproof cylinder, and clean cylinder. Ordinary cylinders are suitable for a general working environment. The waterproof cylinder is suitable for environments with a certain degree of water mist and humidity. Clean cylinders are mainly used in the working environment of clean rooms.
The main function of the throttle valve is to adjust the air flow and control the speed of the pneumatic drive element. It is usually divided into two types: intake throttle valve and exhaust throttle valve. The air intake throttle valve directly adjusts the air flow of the air supply pipe. On the contrary, the air output throttle valve adjusts the air flow of the exhaust pipe to control the speed of the pneumatic drive element. Therefore, it is more stable than the air intake throttle control. As a digression, quick release tube clamps and steel duct clamps are choices for controlling pipe circulation.
The reciprocating movement of the cylinder, the suction and placement of the vacuum chuck are all controlled by the electromagnetic reversing valve. The action of the electromagnetic reversing valve is driven by the direct output of electrical signals from the control system. Therefore, the electromagnetic reversing valve is actually a control element of the pneumatic system. Common used solenoid directional valves usually include: two-position four-way solenoid valve, three-position four-way solenoid valve, two-position five-way solenoid valve, and three-position five-way solenoid valve.
The magnetic switch is a sensor that detects the position of the cylinder piston. If the cylinder piston position is detected by a magnetic switch, it is required to use a magnetic cylinder piston, otherwise it is invalid.
Vacuum chuck is a plastic component that uses vacuum principle to grab products.
The main function of the vacuum generator is to produce a certain degree of vacuum.
Negative pressure gauge is an instrument to detect the degree of vacuum in the gas circuit. It is usually used as a sensor.
The quick-change connector is a direct plug-in tracheal connector. According to different situations, we can choose high pressure quick release couplings or brass pneumatic quick release couplings.
Usually, tracheal specifications are distinguished by the outer diameter of the trachea. Commonly used air pipe specifications are: Φ4, Φ6, Φ8, Φ10, Φ12.
