How Do You Know About Camlock Fitting?

There are many manufacturers all over the world, and you might imagine that all these manufacturers produce these couplings to one of the recognized standards, but experience tells us that this is not always the case. Problems often arise when trying to use one-half coupler produced by one manufacturer and the other half coupler produced by another manufacturer. This is usually not the case if the manufacturer is in North America or Europe. Products from these countries are usually manufactured in accordance with recognized certification specifications, such as the manufacture of hydraulic quick release couplings and high-pressure quick release couplings.

What Are Camlock Fittings?

Camlock fittings, also known as cam and groove couplings, are used in various industries to connect two hoses and pipes together in order to transfer goods. They are easy to use, which do not require tools to connect and disconnect the two halves of the connector, and replace the traditional time-consuming method of connecting some other types of hoses or pipes. For flat face quick release couplings and quick release hydraulic hose fittings, their convenience and their cost-effectiveness make them the most popular couplers in the world.

Generally, you will find camlocks used in every industry, such as manufacturing, agriculture, oil, gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, and military applications, which are very versatile products. And we recommend the ISO7241-A Hydraulic Quick Release Coupling Znic-Nickel Plated and the ISO7241-A SS Hydraulic Quick Release Coupling to you. Since there is no thread when connecting the half couplings together, there is no problem of damage or getting dirty. This means that the camlock coupling is very suitable for dirty environments. Also, the system is particularly suitable for situations that require frequent hose replacements, such as oil and industrial chemical trucks.

How Does a Camlock Work?

The assembly consists of a male slot adapter and a female coupler. By using iso7241b hydraulic quick release couplings and iso7241a series hydraulic quick release couplings, you can connect and disconnect according to the following steps. First, we need to pull out the handle on the coupler, and then insert the male adapter of the correct size into the female coupler. In the second step, the two handles are closed at the same time until the two halves are firmly fixed together. In the third step, we need to close both handles at the same time to ensure that the grooved adapter is always pushed down onto the seal, thereby forming a leak-proof component to safely transport liquid. The fourth step is to perform the reverse process to disconnect, making sure that the hose assembly is decompressed before performing this operation.

How to Measure the Size of a Camlock

Measuring metal camlock fittings is quite easy. For example, if the end of the hose, the external thread, or the internal thread is 2 inches, the camlock coupling will be called a 2-inch camlock coupling.

The size of the polypropylene is slightly different. There is no international standard, and different manufacturers have different head sizes. When the size is ½", the main body is actually ¾", but its thread (or hose tail) is ½". There are also some abnormalities in the 1¼-inch system.

For most cam couplings, please measure the outer diameter (OD) of the adapter head or the inner diameter (ID) of the coupling, which will determine the size of the accessory.

It should be noted that there are certain restrictions on the use of camlocks in assemblies. Hose handles with larger serrations cannot be assembled with ferrules or sleeves. If swaged, it may cause permanent damage to the hose, and the larger fine teeth will cut into the inner wall of the hose. This can cause leaks and/or permanent hose failure.
